A real racing tyre for real racers. Large volume, fast, with lots of grip – the Ikon delivers exemplary performance in a wide range of ground conditions, on hard to loose soils. On rocks and roots, even when it is wet, the 3C rubber compound is convincing. This IKON with EXO Protection is particularly suitable for very rough, rocky terrain. The low extra weight reliably protects the sidewalls against tearing.
3C MaxxSpeed
Maxxis fastest 3C compound for XC and some AllMountain/Enduro tyres is designed for lowest rolling resistance due to the hard base and the fast compound in the centre of the tread, but with the grippy compound on the sides it also offers superior grip in corners, even in wet conditions. The very long service life is also typical of Maxxis.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tyres have many advantages: you can ride with less air pressure and thus have better traction, the rolling resistance is lower than with an inner tube, and where there is no inner tube, the risk of punctures is also lower. Maxxis TR tyres are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other “Tubeless Ready” tyres, because the bead is completely covered with a rubber layer, just like a real UST tubeless tyre. This means that tubeless mounting is successful with all rims that comply with the standard dimensions, with the first inflation and with little fluid.
EXO Protection
This extremely cut and abrasion resistant material protects the sidewall of various MTB tyres. It is very tightly woven, light and very flexible. As a result, the performance of the tyres remains convincingly good.
Foldable bead core
Rings made of Kevlar or another aramid fibre also hold the tyres securely on the rim. Lower weight and easy transport due to small pack size are advantages.
